With the new choices are other decisions such as which one reduces most the carbon footprint (or is the most green)and which one is the most cost effective. No more is “the miles per gallon” a standard that can be applied across the board as a specification.

Toyota’s hybrid sales top 1 million in Japan

NAGOYA (Kyodo) Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday domestic sales of its gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles had topped 1 million units by the end of July. Cumulative global sales, including the 1,007,400 in Japan, exceeded 2.68 million units, the automaker said.
