Question: the 2008 ford escape hybrid?

1) In the ’08 Ford escape hybrid “The Escape Hybrid doesn’t have an all-electric air-conditioning system, for the A/C to stay on, the gas engine has to be kept running” Is it like that for all hybrid cars or just this one?
2) Will it save me gas money? I know thats a loaded question but I know nothing about hybrids.
3) I generally keep my cars for ten years will the hybrids last that long?

i have heard that the ford escape hybrid doesnt really get that good of gas mileage…….you should get a different hybrid….plus the ford escape isnt a very reliable car.
